Great house, great location, great time!
My husband and I took our sons and their wives. The house was perfect for 3 couples. The caretaker, Jack, took great care of us when needed. The house is a short walk to Sea Spray Marina where we kept a small rented boat. There is also a great Tiki bar, food truck and corn hole at the Marina. The owners answered all of my questions quickly. We had THE BEST time on this trip!!!

The bonus room with murphy bed is a big plus if you need a little more sleeping room – much better than a lumpy fold out couch! “Catch A Wave is lovely house with wonderful views of the Atlantic Ocean. It’s got everything you could possibly want. We were there when a storm went through and power went out. It was lovely having the automatic generator. We did worry about running out of diesel but luckily the fuel barge managed to bring more to the island. The cell phone service is not the best but internet was good. It did go down a few times, but wasn’t long before it came back. Jack the caretaker was wonderful and kept in contact with us and could not do enough to make sure our vacation went well. Jane the owner was also very responsive to questions. Renting a golf cart is a must to get around the island. Easy reach to Tahiti Beach, Abaco Inn and FireFly. I would recommend shopping at Maxwells before getting the ferry over as stores only have basic supplies. A Wonderful Stay at Catch a Wave
We had such an amazing week at Catch a Wave. This was the first trip for our family of 4 to Elbow Cay and we can’t wait to go back. The house had everything we needed including a great pool which our kids loved. Plenty of space and an awesome location. We took the short golf cart ride to Tahiti Beach every day and also ventured into Hope Town several days for lunch and to check out the shops. We rented bikes one day and also took the quick shuttle boat over to see the lighthouse. So fun! The house caretaker picked us up at the dock on arrival and dropped us off when we left. The homeowner was great to work with and answered our questions quickly. We’ll be back!

Wonderful house, pool, location on fabulous Elbow Cay
We had to reschedule a graduation present trip as our graduate had to go off to college early. We could have lost 5 airfares or the 3 remaining travelers could go. We usually go to Green Turtle but felt it would be best to do a different cay and not rub it in to the graduate who would be attending classes!. It was May when I searched and found that Catch a Wave was available – it looked too good to be true. We really enjoyed the house, the pool, the large amount of outdoor space, the views, and Elbow Cay was fabulous. While larger than Green Turtle with more restaurant choices, it clearly is also a much more vibrant island. There is a concerted effort to remove trash, recycle, and it was nice to see construction occurring! Hope Town is so charming whereas New Plymouth on GTC needs attention. Don’t get me wrong I love GTC but now that I’ve seen Elbow Cay it will become my go to in the Abacos! I would definitely stay at Catch a Wave again. The caretaker Jamie was super helpful on arrival and the day we were leaving it was pouring rain. He arranged for the enclosed van from the Abaco Inn (just the best place!) to drive us to the ferry dock so we (and our luggage) wouldn’t be soaked. We met so many friendly people – both visitors and residents. The weather was super – don’t focus on the weather apps too much. It showed rain the entire week we were to be there – we had two quick rain showers that actually took away the humidity and made the evening wonderful. The showers were while we were getting ready to go out for dinner. We loved Abaco Inn for breakfast, lunch and dinner – and drinks at the bar, Firefly Sunset Resort was great for both lunch and dinner. Every morning I carted up to The Sweet Shop for great coffee and the pastries were fabulous. They open at 9:00 am so get there early as pastries sell out! We fished with Ira Key of A Salt Weapon Charters. He was great in very rocky seas! Ran up to Manjack Cay for string rays and sharks and snorkeling at mermaid reef with Froggies – was not impressed – not very helpful – the captain brought along a “trainee” (cute girl) – we didn’t really exist – and I’m not sure a snorkeling/diving outfit should have a trainee that doesn’t know how to swim or tie up to a buoy! The one thing Green Turtle has that Elbow doesn’t is Brendal of Brendal’s Dive Shop. If Elbow got a great dive shop, it would be perfect! We will be back!

Catch A Wave caught my heart!
Catch A Wave was the perfect place to stay, especially during the music festival week over Valentines Day. It would be perfect on any occasion. It is close to all the excellent restaurants that hosted the musicians and close to the best beaches on the Island. The accommodation itself was pristine and extremely comfortable. The owner has exemplary taste in decor adding that special touch to comfort. We were lucky to have a backup generator work like a charm when the entire island was out of electricity. I highly recommend Catch A Wave for you next stay in the Bahamas,,,you won’t find better! You might want to book way in advance since Catch A Wave is really popular. We will definitely be back again this year!

We only used the king sized bed and found it to be comfortable. The owner was very helpful in arranging the rental for the golf cart as well as answering any other questions we had. The house is close to Tahiti Beach which we highly recommend. The deck offers plenty of seating for shade or sun. The views are wonderful although there is a house that is fairly close to the back of Catch-A-Wave when you are sitting on the deck. We did not find it a problem for us as no one was ever there. The grocery store that is close to the house seemed to offer as much as any other store on the island. We agree with what others said that the house is decorated very nice and is very comfortable. We found the owner and caretaker very helpful and easy to deal with and had a wonderful time!

Catch-a-Wave was an awesome house to celebrate Thanksgiving and my husbands birthday. We had one other couple who had a teenager – so the layout was perfect for 2 families! The house was decorated with great style and really had the island feel. We have been going to the Elbow Cay since 1988 and this house is our new favorite place to stay!

Catch A Wave is a very clean, up-to-date place to stay while at Elbow Cay. The location was close to town while also being close to Tahiti Beach. We enjoyed our short golf cart rides to markets, marinas, and restaurants. The kids enjoyed the pool each day, while my wife enjoyed quiet peaceful time on the deck reading a book. We all enjoyed the great views. We went to either Tahiti Beach or Hopetown Lodge Beach everyday. We had frequent contact with the owner throughout our trip for advice in addition to being able to contact their caretaker. My wife, who is a decorator, loved the interior. We really had a great time!

My husband and I couldn’t get our boat over this summer so we decide to rent a house. Scrambling to find accommodations in a short time frame we weren’t sure what we would find available and was I ever happy to find Catch A Wave. This house is absolutely wonderful. A few steps from the beach Atlantic side, view to White Sound and the beach was beautiful. The house is beautifully done with a great nautical/beach décor. Each room was decorated very tastefully. I fell in love with it! We will definitely use again. Very centrally located.

Catch A Wave is a great house in perfect location for a wonderful family holiday. It was thoughtfully designed and decorated and it comes stocked with everything you need. We loved the whole house AC, seamlessly integrated generator, perfect sized pool and ample sun deck. The house was a good size too with plenty of room for our extended family of 5. The bedrooms were also nice with 2 singles and one queen sharing a nice bathroom and then a separate master king with its own bath and deck. The location is far enough away from town to feel private but close enough to Tahiti Beach and a few restaurants, store, etc to be very convenient. We really have nothing but good things to say and would return. Don’t hesitate to Catch A Wave, you won’t be disappointed.

This was our second time coming back to Catch A Wave and it was even better than the first. The outdoor shower was used to its extent as was the pool. After our 3 year struggle of trying to find the blue hole in Snake Cay we finally found it! You can’t experience the full feel of the Bahamas without renting a boat. We used our boat everyday and some of the best spots we went to were: Guana Beach, Pete’s Pub, Cracker P’s, the Lighthouse, Snake Cay and the Sandy Cay reef (which is one of the BEST snorkeling spots). Catch A Wave was just the island escape we were hoping for! Basically our own beach, short walk to Seaspray & Abaco Inn for refreshing cocktails. Loved having our own pool & deck, along with a grill & outdoor dining area. The house is set up nicely for the 4 of us. We had enough space so that we didn’t walk all over each other but close enough that it was cozy. The island & people are always so relaxing & very nice. Your home is wonderful! This is our second visit to Hopetown and we will return. A cold front came in, which really surprised us. We weren’t prepared for this. Our thoughts we were are leaving the snow and mountains of the Great Smoky Mountains for warmth and sun. Mother Nature fooled us; however it was still wonderful. I love the colors of the house, they make you feel good. My favorite room is the Sunroom, it is really cherry on an overcast day. Only had the generator on one time, that amazed us how efficient it was. It made us realize how badly we need one at our house. Thank you so much for your sharing of your home. P.S. The house has everything you could possibly want or need for a comfortable vacation stay – even an icemaker in the fridge! The location is perfect – halfway down the island so you can easily get to one end or the other in 5 or 10 minutes. The house comes with a golf cart and it was so handy for quick trips to the store or just leisurely sightseeing. The weather was perfect, the waves were constant background “music” and all-in-all it was a great vacation. We would definately go back again and would unreservedly recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable and well-maintained vacation home in a beautiful location.

We absolutely loved staying at Catch a Wave. My husband checked in the day before and he picked me up the next day and the first words out of his mouth was “wait till you see the house, you’ll love it”. Jane, to you and your husband, kudos to you both… you did a wonderful job decorating and just making the house so homey, you thought of everything. And what a spot, perfect location, near Sea Spray and just down the road from Tahiti Beach. What I loved about where your house is and how it’s situated, you have a lovely breeze on your deck and by the pool.. and you will not want to leave that spot. If you need to stay in for any reason, you have all the comforts of home, 3 flat screen tv’s and the internet service was fast and the power went out a few times, but the generator came on immediately and we had power in the house, plus I love the water system you put in. I had just returned from my first trip to Elbow Cay around mid-April. I loved it so much, I decided to bring my family down, not a month later. Thanks to Jane for making it possible to stay at Catch A Wave on short notice. We had a delightful time, enjoying the lovely turquoise and blue water surrounding Elbow Cay, fishing offshore one day (mahi and wahoo), superb dinners at Sea Spray (easy walk from the house), meals at Cracker P’s and Harbor’s Edge, a trip to Pete’s Pub (and were privileged to catch the foundry in action) and snorkeling at Sandy Cay. And much more… But even with all of that, it was a real treat to return each evening to Catch A Wave. Jane has decorated it so perfectly for its Elbow Cay location. And all the amenities you could hope for are right there. Great pool! Great location! And great to have a generator! We loved it and hope to make a stay at Catch A Wave at least an annual event.

Pictures don’t do this house justice! Great home and great location! We have been going to the Abaco’s for many years and have stayed in many different homes, but this one was by far one of the very best. You can tell the owners took pride in building, professionally decorating, and caring for this home. Don’t take anything with you, because this house has it all. Only steps from the beach (excellent surfing) and we docked our boat at the Government dock next to Sea Spray Marina, which is just a short distance from blue water and big game fish. We will certainly be back to Catch-A-Wave.

Fantastic house in an incredible location. Not only is the house beautiful but the location on the island is perfect. This part of the Bahamas is a paradise. We stayed in Catch A Wave for a week of great swimming, snorkeling, surfing, boating to the nearby islands, sampling all the beach bars, and trying to determine which was our favorite beach…but each beach was more beautiful than the next. Catch A wave was a perfect location for a quieter stay, views of the water and a short walk to the marina, but still accessible to Hopetown by golf cart for dining out. The house was very well equipped – all the amenities of home plus board games, books to read on the beach, and a nice pool and deck.I would recommend this property – there was a nice caretaker to help with any issues (but we never had any) and was there to meet the boat upon arrival and get acclimated.

This was our fourth stay on Elbow Cay, and “Catch A Wave” has by far been the best house we have stayed in! It was perfect for our family. We loved coming back to the pool and the fabulous views after a great day of boating on the Sea of Abaco. Sad leaving Abaco on a day of bad weather, but the weather was gorgeous the rest of the trip! We loved coming back and visiting our favorite spots such as Nippers, Tiloo Bank, Fowl Cay, Bakers bay, Pete’s Pub, Sandy Cay, Cracker P’s and of course Hopetown!
