What Our Guests Are Saying
We loved our week at Catch A Wave! The house is awesome – beautifully decorated with vibrant Bahamian colors and every imaginable comfort. Much of our time was spent lounging around the beautiful pool and gazing at the magnificent views – starting everyday with a gorgeous sunrise!! We also loved walking to the Tiki Bar at the Sea Spray and the gorgeous white sand beaches. Exploring Hopetown was such fun, including shopping, sightseeing and eating at Captain Jack’s! We even found some awesome live music! The owners make the travel plans so smooth and easy. They even advised us on packing coolers so we could enjoy some meals at the home. Once you get there, you don’t want to leave! Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us! We hope to return again and again!
Leslie, Hilton Head Island, SC, February 2017
Great location near Tahiti beach. The bed was comfortable. Although we had a minor water issue, it was corrected in a very timely manner! We will definitely be back.
Blane C, Athens, GA, November 2016
We loved this house! Our first time in Elbow Cay and it exceeded our expectations. We loved the feel and look of the house, especially the pool & deck. After spending long hot days on the boat, it was so refreshing to come back to our house and hang out in the pool. The location is perfect because it’s so close to Sea Spray Marina where we had our boat docked and where we spent a lot of time as well. It was a perfect fit for us and our three kids. The rooms were ideal and the little sitting room was great for our kids to hang out in. Easy booking and easy check in with a great care taker. We look forward to another summer trip to Elbow Cay!
Tracy C, Longwood, FL, August 2016
What a lovely and unforgettable time while we stayed in an exquisitely decorated home that captures the essence and rich hues of the island, and so very welcoming. You feel at ease and comfortable right away. We loved the awesome vista views of the Atlantic and White Sound from the large deck with gazebo and pool. It’s in a fantastic location with easy access to beautiful Tahiti Beach, other secluded beaches, great local color dining and camaraderie. A quick cart ride and you’re in fun and funky Hopetown with ferrys to other nearby destinations. We’ll return to Elbow Cay and will stay at Catch A Wave.
The Boyd Family, Houston, TX, August 2016
This was our first experience renting a home on Elbow. We normally have our boat to stay on. All we can say it that it was delightful. The location can’t be beat. It is a short walk to Sea Spray Marina. The check in process was a breeze and we had no problems. We enjoyed jumping into the pool after a long day playing in the salt water. We would love to enjoy Sea Spray again. Xoxo
Stephanie, Delray Beach, FL, July 2016
We loved Catch A Wave!! From getting flights to golf cart and settled in the house was a breeze!! Our favorite part about this Bahama house is the back deck from coffee in the morning to having dinner outside on the deck!! We had 5 adults in the house and it was very comfortable. It was the perfect place to celebrate a big birthday with the family. Will be back soon!!!
Jeanne, Chatham, MA, May 21, 2016
We stayed at Catch A Wave for the 2016 songwriters festival and had a great week. The house is beautiful and has everything one would need for a vacation away from home. The colours and decorations are very tropical and the pool area is comfy with a beautiful breeze and view of the ocean. Big TV so if you want to be connected to the world, you can be. It is not a far trip to the town with shopping and great restaurants. We have been to Catch A Wave a few times and will go back again!
The Day’s, Nantucket, MA, February 2016
3 couples shared this outstanding property for a week and were 100% delighted! Great location, excellent décor, useful generator, plentiful space, and a nice breeze to keep us comfortable in the middle of summer. Owner and caretaker both great to work with. We highly recommend Catch a Wave – you will love it!
Julie P, Odessa, FL, August 1, 2015
This was our first visit to Elbow Cay. Our group of 5 came for a close friend’s wedding and decided to make it a week long vacation. Catch-a-Wave far exceeded our expectations. This is a terrific house. It could not be decorated any better. The upstairs masters suite is superb with the outside deck overlooking the ocean. Both downstairs bedrooms were comfy and well decorated. The small sunroom was perfect for our daughter since it gave her a bit of privacy to do some work she needed to get done. My favorite spot was under the outside gazebo where we sipped our morning coffee and enjoyed the ocean view and breeze. My wife enjoyed floating on a raft in the pool. Don’t worry about everyday items when you show up, the house is well stocked with pretty much anything you need and the caretaker – Steve – is the best. We would definitely stay here again.
Danny & Kathy, Pawleys Island, SC, May 3, 2015
Beautiful, clean and comfortable home 10 minutes from friendly Hope Town. Our group of 6 enjoyed plenty of room inside and out as well as the pool, outside shower, stargazing and a peaceful atmosphere. The owners provided detailed information for arrival, activities and “must see” places on the island. A convenient, private location. Looking forward to staying at Catch A Wave again!
Tracy & Wes, Hilton Head Island, SC April 30, 2015
Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Catch-a-Wave. The layout of the house worked well for 2 families. The small sunroom was a lovely hideaway for anyone wanting privacy or for the children to watch TV. And the attention to detail was superb: a beach umbrella, plenty of towels, an infant “floatie” for the pool, an outdoor shower to get the salt and sand off. We would highly recommend this property!
The Dow Family, Brunswick, ME, April 22, 2015
Catch-A-Wave was very clean and offers everything you need from kitchen equipment, beach chairs, beach towels, pool, very large porch, internet and much more. We only used the king sized bed and found it to be comfortable. The owner was very helpful in arranging the rental for the golf cart as well as answering any other questions we had. The house is close to Tahiti Beach which we highly recommend. The deck offers plenty of seating for shade or sun. The views are wonderful although there is a house that is fairly close to the back of Catch-A-Wave when you are sitting on the deck. We did not find it a problem for us as no one was ever there. The grocery store that is close to the house seemed to offer as much as any other store on the island. We agree with what others said that the house is decorated very nice and is very comfortable. We found the owner and caretaker very helpful and easy to deal with and had a wonderful time!
Dave & Brenda, Nantucket, MA March 7, 2015
Catch-a-Wave was an awesome house to celebrate Thanksgiving and my husbands birthday. We had one other couple who had a teenager – so the layout was perfect for 2 families! The house was decorated with great style and really had the island feel. We have been going to the Elbow Cay since 1988 and this house is our new favorite place to stay!
The Evans Family, Treasure Island, FL November 24, 2014
Catch A Wave is a very clean, up-to-date place to stay while at Elbow Cay. The location was close to town while also being close to Tahiti Beach. We enjoyed our short golf cart rides to markets, marinas, and restaurants. The kids enjoyed the pool each day, while my wife enjoyed quiet peaceful time on the deck reading a book. We all enjoyed the great views. We went to either Tahiti Beach or Hopetown Lodge Beach everyday. We had frequent contact with the owner throughout our trip for advice in addition to being able to contact their caretaker. My wife, who is a decorator, loved the interior. We really had a great time!
The Wilson Family, Ocala, FL June 22, 2014
This was our 2nd trip to Elbow Cay but the first to White Sound. We had a wonderful family trip with 3 adult children. The house was exactly as advertised. Jane was a pleasure to work with. The caretaker went above and beyond. We enjoyed all the extra features including the pool, phone, wifi, & DirecTV (at night). We will be back again.
Sara & Charles, Sherman, TX, August 18, 2013
We had an amazing trip. The house had everything we could ask for. We couldn’t believe the attention to detail, from the light switches to the granite countertops. THe four of us felt right at home from the second day on the island. We were already planning our next visit back! We hope to return next summer.
Elliot, Jessica, Gavl and Gondy, Delray Beach, FL, Grand Isle, VT, August 3, 2013
Thank you for sharing Catch A Wave with our family. This has been the BEST vacation week ever for our family of 5. Your home is beautiful, with its unique and local touches of the island. It is filled with fun and warmth, and just perfect for my boys!! We will be back! We absolutely love it here!
George, Anita, Cole, Connor & Harrison, Greensboro, NC, July 21, 2013
My husband and I couldn’t get our boat over this summer so we decide to rent a house. Scrambling to find accommodations in a short time frame we weren’t sure what we would find available and was I ever happy to find Catch A Wave. This house is absolutely wonderful. A few steps from the beach Atlantic side, view to White Sound and the beach was beautiful. The house is beautifully done with a great nautical/beach décor. Each room was decorated very tastefully. I fell in love with it! We will definitely use again. Very centrally located.
Irma and William, Jacksonville, Florida, June 15, 2013
Catch A Wave is a great house in perfect location for a wonderful family holiday. It was thoughtfully designed and decorated and it comes stocked with everything you need. We loved the whole house AC, seamlessly integrated generator, perfect sized pool and ample sun deck. The house was a good size too with plenty of room for our extended family of 5. The bedrooms were also nice with 2 singles and one queen sharing a nice bathroom and then a separate master king with its own bath and deck. The location is far enough away from town to feel private but close enough to Tahiti Beach and a few restaurants, store, etc to be very convenient. We really have nothing but good things to say and would return. Don’t hesitate to Catch A Wave, you won’t be disappointed.
Matt & Lori, Chicago, IL, May 18, 2013
This was our second time coming back to Catch A Wave and it was even better than the first. The outdoor shower was used to its extent as was the pool. After our 3 year struggle of trying to find the blue hole in Snake Cay we finally found it! You can’t experience the full feel of the Bahamas without renting a boat. We used our boat everyday and some of the best spots we went to were: Guana Beach, Pete’s Pub, Cracker P’s, the Lighthouse, Snake Cay and the Sandy Cay reef (which is one of the BEST snorkeling spots). Thank you for the great accommodations you provided- we hope to see you next year.
Megan, Nicholas, Nick & Martha, Martha’s Vineyard, MA, April 20, 2013
Thank you so much for sharing Catch A Wave with our family. We loved the beachy decorations, the outdoor patio, and the perfect view of the ocean, The food was great and we especially enjoyed Firefly and ice cream from the Sugar Shack. We loved going to the beach, walking around town, or just relaxing on the patio. Thanks again for our amazing experience in the Bahamas and we hope to come back in the future!!
Emily, Jack, Michele & Erik, Barbara & Craig, Norris, VA & NH, March 30, 2013
What a week! Beautiful weather & a treat to be here. First timers who will come again! Favorites: Firefly (3 nights) & Abaco Inn for dinner- all the beaches, and just relaxing on the deck. Happy memories with 3- 15 year old girls!
Elisabeth, New Canaan, CT, March, 23, 2013
Thank you so much for Catch A Wave! We’ve had an amazing experience on the island and your house has made it all the better. The beaches were incredible and we loved being able to wash sand off in the outdoor shower. We can’t wait to plan our next visit to Hopetown! Thank you.
Mark, Sarabeth, Virginia & Paige, New Canaan, CT, March 23, 2013
Catch A Wave was just the island escape we were hoping for! Basically our own beach, short walk to Seaspray & Abaco Inn for refreshing cocktails. Loved having our own pool & deck, along with a grill & outdoor dining area. The house is set up nicely for the 4 of us. We had enough space so that we didn’t walk all over each other but close enough that it was cozy. The island & people are always so relaxing & very nice. The house exceeded our expectations, pictures do not do it justice! Thanks again for everything! Can’t wait to return.
Kelsey, Jeff, Stephanie & Matt, Holland, MI, March 3, 2013
Your home is wonderful! This is our second visit to Hopetown and we will return. A cold front came in, which really surprised us. We weren’t prepared for this. Our thoughts we were are leaving the snow and mountains of the Great Smoky Mountains for warmth and sun. Mother Nature fooled us; however it was still wonderful. I love the colors of the house, they make you feel good. My favorite room is the Sunroom, it is really cherry on an overcast day. Only had the generator on one time, that amazed us how efficient it was. It made us realize how badly we need one at our house. Thank you so much for your sharing of your home.
P.S. You have chosen really good caretakers
Jim & DeLois, Gaitlinbutg, TN, February 12, 2013
We arrived, all of us so busy in life, no expectations upon arrival, other than hoping it would be warmer than at home. The weather was amazing, if it was cool on one part of the Cay you just walked, biked or “carted” to the other side~ Fantastic! From the sunrises for which I actually got up, coffee from the well appointed kitchen, to apps by the pool prior to Sunset~ All just better and better~ House so beautifully decorated, obviously with LOVE, and a great sense of Fun~ The Website~ incredibly informative. The owners so obviously love the people here, the country, the Cay and their house. Even tho’ they imply in their name, alive for surfing, they demonstrate and share. CATCH A GIGGLE, OR SMILE! Thanks so much for a great ‘Break”
Todd & Virginia, Hilton Head Island, SC, February 8, 2013
Exceeded our expectations! The wonderful environs, the comfortable home. Lots to do or not, depending on the mood! What fun & what wonderful hosts.
Michael & Sherry, Hilton Head, SC, February 7, 2013
We just returned from a 2+ week stay at “Catch a Wave” on Elbow Cay in the Bahamas. The house has everything you could possibly want or need for a comfortable vacation stay – even an icemaker in the fridge! The location is perfect – halfway down the island so you can easily get to one end or the other in 5 or 10 minutes. The house comes with a golf cart and it was so handy for quick trips to the store or just leisurely sightseeing. The weather was perfect, the waves were constant background “music” and all-in-all it was a great vacation. We would definately go back again and would unreservedly recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable and well-maintained vacation home in a beautiful location.
Barbara & Roger, Plymouth, WI, January 20, 2013
Catch a Wave is a home away from home. The wonderful panoramic view of White Sound and the ocean may be the initial attraction, however the house is a jewel in the setting, truly capturing Elbow’s sentiment, and is picturesque and comfy. I credit the very caring, conscientious and creative owners who really paid attention to layout and detail and nailed it.
Greg & June, Hilton Head, SC, October 13, 2012
Your home is beautiful. The colors & decorations are fun & vibrant. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The food on this island is some of the best we’ve had in the Bahamas. Thanks so much.
Tim, Rhonda, Kayla, Becky & Shawn, Stuart, FL, September 3, 2012
We have enjoyed our week in your home, and are especially impressed unusable artifacts. Thank you for sharing. The weather has been great and we got to RELAX and enjoy your pool, “and that’s what holidays are all about.” Thank you again.
Sylvia, Guilden, Sandy, Guilden Jr,Tyler & Madison, Nassau, Bahamas, August 22, 2012
Thank you thank you for making our, “home away from home”, a real home. Everything was perfect down to the special knife that cuts the homemade Bahamian bread to your specifications. We have been coming to the Abaco’s for many years but this week has been very special.
David, Stephanie, Mark, Janice, Lisa & T.J., August 4, 2012
We absolutely loved staying at Catch a Wave. My husband checked in the day before and he picked me up the next day and the first words out of his mouth was “wait till you see the house, you’ll love it”. Jane, to you and your husband, kudos to you both… you did a wonderful job decorating and just making the house so homey, you thought of everything. And what a spot, perfect location, near Sea Spray and just down the road from Tahiti Beach. What I loved about where your house is and how it’s situated, you have a lovely breeze on your deck and by the pool.. and you will not want to leave that spot. If you need to stay in for any reason, you have all the comforts of home, 3 flat screen tv’s and the internet service was fast and the power went out a few times, but the generator came on immediately and we had power in the house, plus I love the water system you put in. You just thought of everything. We will definitely rent your lovely home again, plus you were awesome to deal with. Thank You so much.
Peter and Naomi, Boston, MA, May 2012
I had just returned from my first trip to Elbow Cay around mid-April. I loved it so much, I decided to bring my family down, not a month later. Thanks to Jane for making it possible to stay at Catch A Wave on short notice. We had a delightful time, enjoying the lovely turquoise and blue water surrounding Elbow Cay, fishing offshore one day (mahi and wahoo), superb dinners at Sea Spray (easy walk from the house), meals at Cracker P’s and Harbor’s Edge, a trip to Pete’s Pub (and were privileged to catch the foundry in action) and snorkeling at Sandy Cay. And much more… But even with all of that, it was a real treat to return each evening to Catch A Wave. Jane has decorated it so perfectly for its Elbow Cay location. And all the amenities you could hope for are right there. Great pool! Great location! And great to have a generator! We loved it and hope to make a stay at Catch A Wave at least an annual event.
Sandy, Greensboro, NC, May 2012
Pictures don’t do this house justice! Great home and great location!
We have been going to the Abaco’s for many years and have stayed in many different homes, but this one was by far one of the very best. You can tell the owners took pride in building, professionally decorating, and caring for this home. Don’t take anything with you, because this house has it all. Only steps from the beach (excellent surfing) and we docked our boat at the Government dock next to Sea Spray Marina, which is just a short distance from blue water and big game fish. We will certainly be back to Catch-A-Wave.
The Barrett’s Huntsville, AL, April 5, 2012
Fantastic house in an incredible location. Not only is the house beautiful but the location on the island is perfect. This part of the Bahamas is a paradise. Very well appointed and clean house and we loved the decor. The locals are very friendly and helpful and this is a very safe place to travel. Perfect place to relax and plenty of things to do as well. No pictures of the house or the island can do it proper justice, it’s beautiful! The owners went out of their way to make sure we felt welcome as did all the locals we met. Put this house and this island on your list of places to see, you will be glad you did!
The Sam’s, Manvel, TX, April 3, 2012
What a fantastic week we had enjoying your paradise by the sea!! The house is awesome – beautifully decorated with vibrant Bahamian colors and every imaginable comfort. Much of our time was spent lounging around your beautiful pool and gazing at the magnificent views – starting everyday with a gorgeous sunrise!! We also loved walking to the Tiki bar at the Sea Spray and the gorgeous white sand beaches. Exploring Hopetown was such fun, shopping and eating at Captain Jack’s! And the days exploring the surrounding islands by boat were very special. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us!
Les Family, Columbia, SC, February 28, 2012
What a great house, island and hospitality! We can’t wait to return.
Andy & Jean, Chatham, MA, February 10, 2012
Fantastic vacation! We loved our visit, what a beautiful house. Thank you!
Shelly Anton & Noah, Nassau, Bahamas, January 12, 2012
We stayed in Catch A Wave for a week of great swimming, snorkeling, surfing, boating to the nearby islands, sampling all the beach bars, and trying to determine which was our favorite beach…but each beach was more beautiful than the next. Catch A wave was a perfect location for a quieter stay, views of the water and a short walk to the marina, but still accessible to Hopetown by golf cart for dining out. The house was very well equipped – all the amenities of home plus board games, books to read on the beach, and a nice pool and deck.I would recommend this property – there was a nice caretaker to help with any issues (but we never had any) and was there to meet the boat upon arrival and get acclimated.
Jen, Norwell, MA, January 10, 2012
Had a great time, the house was wonderful as well as the people and places. We will be back.
The McCarty Family, John’s Creek, Ga, November 27, 2011
I’ve always had a travelers heart but have yet to see very much of the worls but I’ll never forget my trip to the Bahamas and the pleasure in staying here at your home. It was truly so inviting and a wonderful place to spend some (well needed) relaxation time. Thank you for putting so much heart into each and every room. the decor, and all the amenities a girl could ever ask for were lovely, and appreciated. It certainly is more than just a little piece of paradise… the memories here will most definitely make those snowy, wintery night ahead of me just a wee bit easier to bare.
Jeannie, Calgary, AB, Canada, November 12, 2011
Amazing views! Amazing generator! With the whole island out of power, it is pretty nice to still be able to turn on a light! Thanks for all the effort in making Catch A Wave. Such a great vacation home. From the decor details to the pristine home. Best wished and thanks for a wonderful week.
Alison, Calgary, AB, Canada, November 12, 2011
We loved, loved, loved “Catch A Wave.”
The Anderson Family, Atlantic Beach, FL, June 18, 2011
This was our fourth stay on Elbow Cay, and “Catch A Wave” has by far been the best house we have stayed in! It was perfect for our family. We loved coming back to the pool and the fabulous views after a great day of boating on the Sea of Abaco. Sad leaving Abaco on a day of bad weather, but the weather was gorgeous the rest of the trip! We loved coming back and visiting our favorite spots such as Nippers, Tiloo Bank, Fowl Cay, Bakers bay, Pete’s Pub, Sandy Cay, Cracker P’s and of course Hopetown! Thank you so much for the great accomodations! We hope to visit again soon!
Steve, Patty, Lauren, Sean & Kelly, Peachtree City, GA, June 4, 2011
The iconic Hope Town lighthouse…
